Padstow Christmas Festival

I'm excited to plug this little collection of work to be launched at the Picture House Gallery during the Padstow Christmas Festival this December... It's a great event that the whole town gets involved with.

The work is inspired by winter and is all about the River and the sea. So if you are in the Padstow area on the 7-9th December, pop in to the Picture House Gallery, particularly on Saturday between 12 and 3, as I'll be there!

There's also a chance to win a piece of my glass worth £100, if you go to the galley website...

Big wave

Today's work...at its first stage. Each layer has to dry before being painted over again.... The final process being a sprinkling of glass powders and grains. It's just been put into the kiln for a night firing.

The whole process is one that teaches me to be patient!

Assortment...

Just a little assortment of the different glass pieces I have made over the last few months. (Actually one is acrylic on board). I think I work with the seasons...

Studio Corner

About 3pm today, this little corner of my studio was sunny, warm and full of shadows and reflections... Autumn.

Every leaf of every tree...

When I was little I had this poem in a frame above my bed... It's come back to me recently as I have been absorbed in trees and leaves. Of course I don't believe in fairies anymore (!), but I do believe in the same sense of wonder and excitement when you look up into a canopy of lime green trembling leaves...

On Every leaf of Every Tree

The air around was trembling bright
and full of dancing specks of light
While butterflies were dancing too
Betwen the shining green and blue
I might not watch, I might not stay
I ran along the meadow way.

The straggling brambles caught my feet
The clover fieild was, oh! so sweet;
I heard a singing in the sky,
and busy things went buzzing by;
and how it came I cannot tell,
but all the hedges sang as well.

Along the clover field I ran
To where the little wood began,
and there I understood at last
Why I had come so far, so fast
On every leaf of every tree
A Fairy sat and smiled at me!

Just a few trees...

Not much to add really....

Except that it was very bracing and almost too cold... the air was transparent and completely clear and the colours just perfect.

Going into the studio now.
