Excited to be part of the North Bristol Art Trail this year... Sharing space with my great friend Debby Bird. We have been to Cornwall every year as families for the last 23 years or so and have decided that pretty much all our inspiration stems from such times. So why not celebrate that history at our venue on the trail this year? If you are in Bristol or nearby please come and join us!

Abbey...

Visited the beautiful Lacock Abbey today. One of those places that satisfy some underlying longing to be in a still and quiet place. Yes, it wasn't empty, but the stones, sunshine and green fields made their presence felt in a powerful way...quenching the need to be somewhere meaningful.

Apparently the daughters of Fox Talbot loved nature and wild flowers... They painted literally thousands of watercolours, some of which were simply displayed on easels in the calm and empty spaces around the Cloisters.... Lovely.

Red boat

Our warm and inspiring few days in Italy is really beginning to fade a bit now and Cornwall is calling again...

I painted this small square canvas a few years ago, it's St Ives again, but it just takes me straight there. That will have to do for a week or so!

The Park

There are about 100 houses around the Park and I think we have the absolute best view of them all - but then I would say that! Just look...

Fuscia fading....

"September. It was the most beautiful of words, he'd always felt, evoking orange-flowers, swallows and regret." Theroux

The Hoe

Enjoyed a visit to Plymouth today, just to check out the lie of the land with Charlie. How amazing to live and study here, by the twinkling sea.

Very slightly envious that he will be nearer to Cornwall than we are but glad that we now have an excuse to go to Devon and stop, en route to Cornwall. It makes the leaving easier...

Mini Italy...

Just a quick peek at some very small sketches on glass... Purely for my own pleasure! Not sure what to do with them, they are too small really. But good little reminders of five days in the warm sun. Sigh...

Olive and Cyprus...

Just a few days ago I was here...

To keep the memory alive I've fused it on to a piece of white glass. It's just amazing to be able to mix colours like these from powdered glass. Not sure what colour to mount it on to yet...

There may be some more Italian pieces to come...

"You may have the universe if I may have Italy." Verdi
