Quantock skylarks

Had a little meander across the top of the quantocks today...what a lovely place. It was quite strangely quiet at the top, the mist suddenly came down but the sun was really trying to come through. It had that 'ancient' feeling, especially the woody climb up to the moor on top.

And at the top the skylarks were everywhere...we watched a couple dancing around each other about 20 feet away, singing away. Because it was so heavily quiet, their song sounded incredibly crisp, not at all like the distant 'up high' sound you normally hear.

I tried to capture some of it on my iPhone... Not great as the light was strange. But lovely anyway to visit a bit of wild Somerset!
